Neighborhood Activities for the weekend of July 4th

June 30, 2009 By Mickey Leave a Comment

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer and looking forward to the Fourth of July holiday weekend! If you are in town, I hope that you will join your friends in neighbors in participating in the following holiday events in our neighborhood!

Parade on Saturday, July 4th!

It’s time for the annual Piedmont Bend July 4th Parade!
Decorate your bikes, strollers and scooters for a patriotic ride through the neighborhood. Riders and their parents should meet at 10:00 am at the intersection of Kinridge Road and Kinridge Trail. The parade will proceed to the pool where everyone can cool off with a dip in the pool or a swing on the playground. Spectators are encouraged!

Independence Day Cookout – Saturday, July 4th!

Continue the day’s festivities with at Cookout at the Pool! The grill will be fired up and PBRA will have the food ready by 2:00. Hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and sodas will be provided. We do ask each family coming to bring a dish to share. Families with their last name starting with A thru M please bring a side dish and families with their last name starting with N thru Z please bring a dessert to share. We will have some fun games for party-goers of all ages! The weather is supposed to be nice all day (maybe the “isolated” thunder storm), so bring your cooler, a dish to share and and your American spirit!

Other holiday “neighborhood news”

The “Freedom Celebration” at Mount Paran North Church of God will be Friday, July 3rd. The celebration begins at 7:00 p.m. with a patriotic musical tribute to the USA followed by one of Cobb County’s finest firework shows right in the church parking lot. Mount Paran North is located at 1700 Allgood Road.
The Firework Show at Marietta Square is scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 4th. This year’s show will also commemorate the 175th Birthday of Marietta!

Happy Independence Day to all and best wishes for a fun and safe holiday weekend!

End of the school year party and cookout

May 19, 2009 By Mickey Leave a Comment

On Friday, May 22 we will celebrate the end of the school year.  Starting at 6:00, pizza and sodas will be served at the pool.  Please bring an item to share,  boys bring something salty and girls bring something sweet.  The non-students cost is only 2 dollars per person. We also will play some bingo and give out some prizes. Let’s get together and celebrate all the hard work our children have done this school year.

On Sunday, May 24 we will be celebrating Memorial Day and our Membership Drive. Everyone is welcome. PBRA will have the food ready by 2:00. Hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and sodas will be provided. We do ask each family coming to bring a dish to share. Families with their last name starting with A thru M please bring a side dish and families with their last name starting with N thru Z please bring a dessert to share. This will be a wonderful day with plenty of games, contests, prizes, good friends, new friends and memories. We hope to see you all out there. This will kick off the start of a wonderful fun filled summer.

Labor Day Chili Cook-Off?

July 21, 2008 By Mickey Leave a Comment

We are throwing around the idea of doing a Chili Cook-Off sometime around Labor Day weekend. The format would be pretty simple and will be put out later. There will be 3 winners in each category of Red Chili and White Chili. We would have a nominal fee for all you can eat chili that will go to a charity. Please let me know if you would be interested in some kind of this type of event. Show off your famous chili or just come out for a good cause!!!! This event will be available to all residents of Piedmont Bend.

4th of July BBQ

July 3, 2008 By Mickey Leave a Comment

After the responses I have received back form the Fourth of July email these were the results for a BBQ:

  • 8 yes
  • 24 no
  • 2 maybe

What I would like to do is have the grill going for anyone that wants to out cookout themselves on Friday between the hours of 11-2. Mary will have games/activities at that time also.

PBRA Adult Night – Friday, June 27

June 21, 2008 By Mickey Leave a Comment

Yes Adult night; we will be closing the pool at 7P.M. for Adults Access Only. All  you will be responsible for is the meal you bring to eat and the drinks you will be drinking if choose to. By no means do you have to cook out at all. Just come on down for a fun night!  The grill will be hot and ready for you to use at 7:30.

We will have music, games (cards and/or dice), volleyball and plenty of fun catching up with friends.  This is a great opportunity to meet some new friends or just catch up with old ones.  All you need to do is bring your own food and drinks, relax, and enjoy your evening.

If you have any suggestions for games that you think might be fun please let me know. Please remember to keep any glass bottles away from the pool deck. Hope to see you all there.
